Like any language whether spoken or signed, there are regional differences called 'dialects'. Some states may share the same sign even if they are a couple of states away, such as Indiana and California signing BIRTHDAY the same way. Some dictionaries neglect that there are also multiple signs for a single word due to the definition of the word. Take 'run' for example, one sign equals the word does not work because 'run' has multiple meanings. Be careful to take the sign for granted, be aware of what you are searching for. |
